Scottieholics! Salutations! For those who have followed The Absent Minded Housewife blogs, you'll notice the semi-reference from her November 18, 2008 entry in the title. For a well part of many, many years, I've been shopping and collecting disco music. For those who are not familiar with my entry, it is posted here at Scottropolis in its original format. For those who have followed me since my 360 days and had not read it, shame on you. For a good month and some change, Jack Frost pushed up on us once again. The child inside of me glowed and goaded me into the disco collection once again. I just couldn't help but the innocent times being in my Snoopy jammies, watching cartoons, and eating a plate of hot grits. There were some winter mornings of listening to the background music from "The Price is Right" as Bob Barker goes through the prizes.
But that scenario is another story for another day. I couldn't help but think about opening a roller disco. It'd be cool to skate to Rhythm Heritage's version of Stevie Wonder's "My Cherie Amour." For those who are not familiar of the group, they did the theme to the 1970s show, "S.W.A.T."
Here's a little Golden Girls reference. Rest in peace, Estelle Getty. Picture this. A roller disco on a winter 1977 night. Warm sounds of "My Cherie Amour" coming from the vinyl record playing in the DJ booth. You and that special someone skating together cheek to cheek. Basking under the dim lights with a mild touch of red, green, and blue lights. Disco ball spinning on the ceiling. That sounds like something a parent or two would tell their child.
With all of this snow on the ground, I really can't help but think about those innocent times. Granted each generation will have their own take about innocent times. I can see the kids today telling their kids about having broadband internet and PS3. I'll just be sitting back talking about an Atari 2600 and dealing with rabbit ears. Well, this concludes the entry. In the meantime, arrivederci and Godspeed.
Before I really depart, here's a clip of the trailer from "Roller Boogie". If I bump into a young Linda Blair look-a-like, I may be forced to shut down Scottropolis.

I'm Done
Scottieholics! Salutations! It has took me a while to let this soak in. Usually, something I had anticipated for will get me excited and have me bouncing against the walls. But since I've been preoccupied with other things job and business related, I barely gave it a second thought. Now, I figured why not let you Scottieholics know about what has occurred a month and some change back. I would've posted a YouTube video with power point slides and generic disco music. Unfortunately, I had a nice reminder from YouTube about posting licensed music without permission. That's one of those things that would immediately abort the idea. Does it suck? Yeah, but it is what it is. Moving on.
I'm completely done with the military. For the first time in 10 years, I'm a 100% full blooded civilian. Many often asked how does it feel. Well, for one it does feel good not to wear a uniform. I can go to work wearing a pair of Dockers, sneakers, polo shirt, and a hockey jersey. Also, I cannot forget about using the iron at least once a week. Fortunately, I have a dryer that takes out the wrinkles. Lastly, I have a very laid back work atmosphere where I can listen to my wrestling and hockey podcasts.
It would have been easier to do 20 years, but I feel it will be a bad omen to continue doing something my heart is no longer into. I did enjoy my years in the Air Force and will not trade them in for the price of tea in China. I built friendships and worthwhile experiences that will last me a lifetime. For those who have followed me since my 360 days, like any other blogger, I had my rants about some co-workers who were mean and/or insecure. Unfortunately, most work places will always have some meanie and/or some insecure slug. It is another sign the work place is the same as high school. Same crap, different toilet, go figure.
Interesting things will lie ahead for me. Perhaps since I have some more time on my hands, I'll continue tweaking this site and plug Scottropolis to the rest of the cyber community. 'Til the next time, arrivederci and Godspeed!

New Year
Scottieholics! Salutations! Well, this is the first entry of 2009. For those who are wondering, I didn't go out and party nor did I sit back and reflect. In my opinion, New Year Eve's parties are really nothing but one big burp. Nothing against those who like to party.
I didn't sit back and reflect. Personally, for quite some time, I think it's best for me is to learn, move on, and post it for a future blog entry. New Year's Day was really another day at the office here at Scottropolis. I did go to Buffalo Wild Wings for the Winter Classic. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to listen to the commentary and player interviews on the ice. The football games had priority due to demand. I really hope the NHL put the Winter Classic on DVD. Make it a two-disc set. Behind the scenes prepping, interviews, the story behind the Chicago and Detroit rivalry, and etc. I don't think it'd happen, but a guy can dream, can't he? 2010. HD. Authentic Philly Cheese Steak. Moi drooling. Good times. Priceless.
Now, that's one of my plans for 2009. Pressing on. I handpicked the top 10 entries from 2008. Just click on the title and it'll take you to the entry.
